About the role
- Ensure that all aspects of site environmental, health and safety are managed in compliance with applicable laws and in conformance with the DRS EH&S Policy
- Ensure that a proactive safety program is developed and implemented, complete with metrics
- Interface with and manage relationships with all applicable government and regulatory agencies
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; prepare reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Advise senior leadership on safety performance, risks, and mitigation strategies
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, response planning, and drills
- Monitor safety metrics, trends, and KPIs; drive continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in safety management
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, risk management frameworks, and safety management systems
- Demonstrated experience leading safety programs in medium to large organizations (300+ employees preferred)
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, CHMM, ASP, CIH, CSHM, or equivalent) is highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, security-conscious environment
- U.S. Citizenship required
