About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain relational database schemas, tables, and indexes
- Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance to ensure high availability and efficiency
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management for multiple environments
- Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with industry standards
- Plan for capacity and database growth, ensuring availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
- Collaborate with application developers, analysts, and stakeholders to support business requirements
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment of database changes
- Document database standards, designs, procedures, and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years of experience
- US Citizenship; ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance
- Proficiency in SQL, including queries, stored procedures, triggers, and optimization
- Experience designing and implementing relational database models and schemas
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS platforms such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server (preferred), or MySQL
- Knowledge of database performance tuning and query optimization techniques
- Experience developing and supporting ETL processes and data integration workflows
- Familiarity with database security best practices, access control, and compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud)
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for database changes
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
