About the role
- Work directly with the Engineering Program Manager and Chief Engineer in support of AGUN engineering activities across the full system development lifecycle
- Lead a team of qualified network and network security engineers to facilitate and support the full system lifecycle development for the AGUN program with a focus on network engineering.
- Conduct assessment, analysis, and solution development of a modern Software Defined Network including development of diagrams and architectural views.
- Coordinate and execute requirement gathering and engineer solutions based upon best practices
- Ensure compliance of the network design and implementation in accordance with US Army policies, DoD cybersecurity policies, and establish compliant I/T system integrations with legacy US Army systems
- Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing network technologies, champion new technology insertion, and provide innovative concepts to evolve current network management processes
- Provide clear technical direction and critical design insight to engineering resources across multiple engineering disciplines including design, Infrastructure as Code development, testing, cybersecurity, and operations support
- Analyze and understand secure wide area connectivity inclusive of underlay, overlay, and transport design that supports performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements.
- Support secure access solutions leveraging zero trust network access (ZTNA) including support for creation of new access policies and maintenance of existing policies.
- Understand and support migration of legacy firewall policies, security zones, and access controls to the AGUN solution.
- Integrate capacity planning and scaling of network and security stack environments into the overall operational support processes and staff.
- Collect, investigate, and identify network optimization strategies and techniques to meet capacity and performance standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years' experience or Master's degree with 15+ years of experience
- Ten years of experience in the last 15 years as a Network Engineer in a production environment
- Possess a current Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Juniper Networks Certified Expert Lab Exams (JNCIE), or equivalent OEM certification
- Five years’ experience in the last seven years delivering a SDN project from concept to production operations
- Subject Matter Expert in SD-WAN, MPLS, NGFW, ZTNA, and related network technologies
- Must have experience in working with two or more of the following vendor network technologies: Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Versa, Dell, or AppGate
- Possess a current IAT Level II Certification
- Preferred: Possess a current IAT Level III Certification
- Experience designing cloud-based solutions
- Two years’ experience working with commercial internet service providers
- Hands on experience with Cisco SD-WAN
- Hands on experience with Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
