About the role
- As a member of the packaging team, the Advanced Packaging Engineer will be responsible for supporting and developing packaging solutions that support new and ongoing automotive programs.
- This position focuses on pre-source quoting, identifying and developing returnable packaging suppliers, and managing our Lear Packaging Approval System (LPAS).
- Advance Packaging Engineer is responsible to support early-stage program development through pre-source program quoting, supplier engagement, and management of LPAS.
- This includes all activities related to the planning, budgeting, design, procurement, and management of both returnable and expendable packaging for a variety of automotive seating components.
- Additional responsibilities include supporting new product launch teams and meetings, driving continuous improvement, analyzing engineering drawings and specifications of packaging, and collaborating with cross-functional organization to manage new packaging launches.
- Ensure packaging solutions meet customer, quality, safety, and sustainability requirements.
- Support cost modeling, tooling investment analysis, and ROI evaluations for packaging programs.
- Maintain accurate packaging documentation, standards, and change control throughout the program lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor in Packaging, or Related Study
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Plant Staff, Sales, Purchasing and Program Management
- Coordinate and manage packaging activities with multiple regions when necessary
- 2-3 years of experience with Logistics in Relation to Packaging
- Strong social skills, ability to communicate to all levels of Management
- Experience with Just in Time (JIT) Manufacturing
- Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- 3 Years working experience in Automotive Packaging (Bonus if you have)
- Continuous Improvement Background (Bonus if you have)
