About the role
- Leading a team of engineers responsible for the design and development of full-stack Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) applications and workflows tailored to optimize existing legal and business processes
- Leading project planning, prioritization, and execution in partnership with the leadership team
- Ensuring team adherence to firmwide policies, procedures, and development practices, promoting a culture of accountability and consistency across all initiatives
- Setting and reinforcing best practices for software quality, documentation, testing, and delivery
- Defining, implementing, and overseeing DevOps practices and production support processes for deployed AI applications
- Contributing to the entire lifecycle of application development including concept, design, test, release, and support
- Balancing multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining focus on quality and timely delivery
- Providing technical leadership by mentoring engineers, conducting code-reviews, and ensuring work is well-scoped
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science or related fields
- A minimum of eight (8) years of industry experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an agile development environment
- A minimum of six (6) years of industry experience in full stack AI application development
- Exhibit proficiency with Python including experience with libraries and frameworks relevant to ML/GenAI application development (e.g., LangChain)
- Demonstrate proficiency with API development frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) and knowledge of web standards relating to API development (e.g., CORS, OpenAPI)
- Possess experience with DevOps processes (CI/CD/CT, Test-Driven Development) and tools (Git, Azure DevOps)
