About the role
- Lead the daily technical aspects of a diverse, integrated analytical team as well as effectively utilize varying analytical techniques to supporting all aspects of the LANXESS Material Protection Products business.
- Serve as the focal point to support internal customers requests, external customer requests and regulatory needs for analytical testing.
- Support the innovation strategy and global R&D projects as a key team member representing the analytical function.
- Support the internal Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) function, while also interacting with external testing organizations when needed.
- Effectively manage time across multiple projects and competing demands, demonstrating a proactive approach to execution.
- Mentor and guide team members on effective analytical strategies and techniques.
- Collaborate with other scientists globally and broader interdisciplinary teams, including regulatory, marketing, and product development, to support and drive projects from concept to commercialization.
- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment while assuring compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of 15+ years/10+ years/5+ years of industrial analytical laboratory experience in a research or technical application setting.
- Demonstrated deep practical expertise in Chromatographic techniques including HPLC, LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC, GC-MS, and IC required.
- Knowledge of analytical software packages, including Agilent OpenLab required.
- Familiarity with IT Administrative oversight a plus.
- Practical experience analyzing small molecules in complex matrices required.
- Experience with other analytical techniques including ICP-MS and XRF desired.
- Experience with direct customer engagement to support LANXESS products.
- Ability to technical supervise and mentor the scientists within the analytical team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
- Experience working in a team-oriented research setting to drive projects toward completion preferred.
