About the role
- Delivers school-wide career readiness awareness workshops for Westbrook Academy
- Manages field trips, career fairs, and panels for Westbrook Academy
- Track all data across Westbrook students and subgroups to ensure all high school students meet milestones to receive the Work Readiness Certificate and Badge
- Supports Westbrook 12th-grade college and career-focused work around college applications and enrollment
- Will coordinate with ELAC, LATTC, and community partners to align high school training with community college pathways in AME and Health
- Schedule and lead personal and professional development workshops (e.g., resume building, leadership, financial literacy, social media skills, etc.) for high school students in person and/or remotely (via webinars)
- Develop and sustain relationships with teachers/cohorts within high schools to facilitate workshops
- School, student, and alumni outreach for opportunities through Career Pathway Connections, GirlsBuild, The Intern Project, and beyond
- Lead Career Skills workshops & events by creating worksheets, slide decks, calendaring, attending events & workshops
- Manage student workshop completion, certificates, and badges by operating as a liaison between LA Promise Fund and LAUSD
- Develop work-based learning activities for students in high school
- Promote best practice strategies and plans for ongoing communications with students and educators to promote awareness and enrollment in CPC activities/programs
- Track and organize all applications and paperwork with students, applicants, LATTC, and business partners - including submissions, contracts, K-12 forms, work permits, and more.
- Manage social media posts
- Create Social Impact reports for school partners following summer internships
- Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts
- Conduct short-and long-term planning and management for events
- Work with school staff and students on Dual Enrollment recruitment and paperwork support and follow up as it pertains to Coop-Ed
- Lead the recruitment, communication, and planning for student-facing sessions for The Intern Project for after-school, summer, and school-year programming.
- Coach internships cohorts during The Intern Project summer program
- Support field trips to SoLa Tech Center and other local organizations/businesses in the AME sector
- Collect and manage data as it relates to grant mandates and strategic plans to share the success of The Intern Project
- Use data to collaborate with Director for decision-making for program growth and improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Degree in marketing/communications, business, education, STEM or other related field
- At least 1 year of experience working with students or within schools, preferably within K-12 Los Angeles schools
- Ability to assist in the coordination of a program
- An understanding of K-12 education, adult learning, and/or STEM
- Fluent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and online communications (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom)
- Familiarity with website maintenance and social media platforms
- Enjoys student and teacher engagement; not shy about engaging in conversation with strangers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community
- Resourceful, detail-oriented, able to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Able to project manage multiple complex projects at a time
- Self-starter with a knack for problem-solving, networking, creating new relationships and opportunities
- Entrepreneurial: a hard worker with a high energy level, action-oriented, and solution-oriented
- A strong collaborator, good listener, and strategist; comfortable receiving input from many sources, and able to analyze and formulate disparate information into a sound, well-organized plan
- Ability to work with and understand the needs of public and charter school teachers
