About the role

  • Working closely with the Director of Advancement, assist with the agency’s annual fundraising efforts.
  • Support and contribute to the LA Promise Fund’s special events, general development and grants.
  • Manage the compliance of all funds received including ensuring relevant information entered and maintained in our Salesforce or other systems as well as funder portals.
  • Manage the systems of fundraising like Salesforce, Google Drives lists, Classy, Mailchimp, and more.
  • Write concept papers, LOIs, prepares Decks, materials, etc. for all corporate and individual funders, occasionally foundations.
  • Interface with LAPF and School staff on implementation and compliance, monitoring, reporting, budget monitoring, funds receivable.
  • Write all reports to funders and submits upon supervisor approval.
  • Completes corporate and individual portal or material requests.
  • Meet regularly with each department and the school to review their funding obligations, list of grants, progress monitoring, obtain data for grant applications or reports, etc.
  • Assist with Special Events.
  • Prepare all tax-exempt letters annually working with finance and other relevant individuals.
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings, staff meetings, board meetings, strategic planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in development, especially corporate, individual and foundation giving
  • Special event and volunteer management experience highly valued
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies
  • Experience and established relationships with prospective funders
  • Experience in the public sector and/or in external affairs
  • Experience managing a staff/team, highly preferred
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Innovative thinker who can contribute to continuous improvement of protocols, policies and operating procedures
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Exceptional written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills including database, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and online communications; Google Suite, Salesforce and Adobe experience a plus
  • Knowledge of public education and experience with K-12 schools is a plus
  • Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check
  • Must clear a TB Risk Assessment
  • Must complete Mandated Reporter training
