About the role
- Partner closely with Manufacturing and Programs to develop and implement facility strategies that enable program success and meet evolving customer needs.
- Plan strategically for future manufacturing and facilities capacity in a business that has grown 4x in revenue in the last 5 years.
- Lead and develop a facilities team of four, overseeing day – to – day site operations and performance.
- Think of long-term, effectively planning facilities and factory layout on a three – year horizon.
- Balance strategic and tactical priorities across facilities management and manufacturing planning.
- Coordinate cross – functionally (Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Program Management, etc.) on program facilities plans central to the business.
- Lead in a matrixed environment, influencing diverse internal customers and stakeholders.
- Transform the facilities function, improving efficiency and internal customer satisfaction through process improvement and waste elimination.
- Coordinate all facilities activities across the three leased buildings that support the business.
- Meet and manage budgets for facilities – related costs.
- Manage facilities for the three Wilmington, MA buildings (totaling 140,000 sq. ft.) across interior design, space planning, construction management, and facilities operations.
- Lead quarterly (or more frequent) reviews with Manufacturing Program Leadership to establish facility specifications and plans.
- Proactively align manufacturing and facility planning from proposal through delivery, leading cross – functional teams to optimize space for development and production programs by Identifying required square footage, specific areas, and schedules for those spaces.
- Defining fit – up needs (utilities, environmental, tooling, flow) to meet program manufacturing goals.
- Enabling efficient execution of transformation plans as manufacturing spaces transition between programs.
- Using data to surface conflicts, communicating across programs and up to senior leadership when facility constraints exist.
- Lead with a Safety and Quality – first mindset, jointly responsible with other managers for security and EH&S standards across the site.
- Develop and implement visual management tools, and improve facilities processes and systems to enhance predictability and performance.
- Own facilities capital planning, including annual CAPEX planning, tracking, and execution for the site.
- Drive 5S and Lean practices throughout shared areas (halls, conference rooms, kitchens) and facilities – owned spaces (storage, tool rooms).
- Develop and maintain metrics to foster a culture of data – driven decision – making; create actionable insights and drive improvement using Root Cause Analysis.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, guidelines, and regulations; oversee contractor work and vendor performance.
- Lead real estate planning and expansion activities across the leased footprint.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience
- Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
- Ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
- Collaboration and influence skills suited to a matrixed environment; able to manage conflict and build alignment across functions.
- Executive engagement; able to make recommendations to site leadership on activities/equipment, with well ‑ supported solutions.
- Experience with Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) processes and guidelines.
- Lean and Six Sigma knowledge (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, Kaizen, process control)
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, local code compliance, OSHA, and related regulations.
- Experience coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies for permits and approvals.
- Familiarity with industrial safety, accident investigation and prevention, and relevant regulations (OSHA, DEP, EPA, NFPA, local/state/federal).
- Familiarity with Corporate Real Estate transactions.
- OSHA electrical safety program implementation and management experience is a plus
- Demonstrated management/leadership experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities Planning/Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Project/Program Management, and/or Construction Management.
