About the role
- Manage the Composites Manufacturing and Machining/Tool Maker staff as well as the associated facilities and equipment
- Manage scheduling, task delegation, timesheet approval, Mid-year and Annual reviews, Career development, and Manpower analysis and staffing
- Identification, planning, and coordination of Capital Equipment
- Accountable for AS9100 compliance for the composites and machining areas
- Support the management and audits of 5S, FOD, and Tool Control for the composites and machining areas on the shop floor
- Support manufacturing efficiency targets and on-time delivery goals through personnel accountability, training, planning and improvement efforts
- Manage overhead spending budgets for the group and ordering of shop supplies and tooling
- Promote new manufacturing process, techniques, and materials
- Identify, lead, and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Provide technical input on DFM for composites, 3DP, and machined parts
- Works with PM, IPT leads, and/or CAMs to provide ROMs / labor estimates
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 years prior relevant experience
- Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
- Ability to obtain US Government security clearance
- Working experience with execution of earned value management (EVM)
- Experience in manufacturing; preferably experience in Shop Operations
- Operations Planning, Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement also desirable.
- Prior experience in the deployment and use of Lean and 6 Sigma manufacturing tools/methods
- Masters degree in relevant engineering field or related field and/or equivalent experience desired
- Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically in composites, metals, and electronics
- Experience leading small teams
- Prior experience in using computer-based project management tools associated with resource planning, scheduling and cost monitoring is desirable
- Experience in creating and managing budgets for both operational and capital expenses
- Experience with technical writing, specifically work instructions and process documentation
- Experience in aviation or military systems manufacturing
- Experience with creating and presenting performance metrics
- Experience with Capital Equipment justification and BOEs
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
- Experience with Power BI or data analytics
- Experience/certification in lean practices; 5S, six sigma, etc.
