About the role
- Apply customs regulations to product classification, origin determination, inbound and outbound processes, internal and broker procedures
- Supports implementation of policies and procedures in line with customs requirements
- Reviews import/export data to ensure compliance
- Supports responses to customs related inquiries, non-conformance reports from internal stakeholders, external partners
- Organizes and assists in training in customs requirements, internal policies and procedures, reviews, spot checks
- Supports broker partnership and daily requests for information
- Identify areas of process improvements and data quality metrics with internal stakeholders
- Gather quantitative performance measurements on external partners
Requirements
- Min. 5 years of International Freight Operation and/or Customs Compliance experience
- Certified Customs Specialist designation from CSCB
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary / College Diploma and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
- Comprehensive experience with Canada’s Customs Act, Customs Tariff, D Memoranda
- Familiar with Canada’s Export & Import Permits Act (EIPA), Canada’s Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
- Prior supply chain / compliance management experience preferred
