About the role
- Contracts: Draft and review compliance clauses related to anti-money laundering (AML), counter‑financing of terrorism (CFT), counter‑proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, responsible gambling in marketing and integrity, anti‑bribery, and anti‑corruption.
- Due Diligence: Perform background checks, document verification, and risk assessments. Analyze corporate structures, ownership, and financial stability to identify potential risks. Conduct in‑depth investigations of high‑risk entities, including politically exposed persons (PEPs), high‑value transactions, and relationships in sensitive jurisdictions. Assess adverse media, sanctions lists, and regulatory databases for potential red flags. Prepare comprehensive risk reports with clear recommendations for business decisions. Review compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Document due diligence processes in accordance with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Risk Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain ongoing monitoring to detect changes in risk profiles and escalate significant findings to the Compliance Officer with actionable insights.
- Legal Strategy and Analysis: Provide strategic legal advice and prepare comprehensive legal memoranda on corporate, compliance, and gambling regulatory issues that impact the company.
- Document Management: Ensure accurate and secure maintenance of the company’s legal documentation and records.
- Advanced Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to support the company’s legal strategy and decision‑making processes.
- Regulatory Filings and Liaison: Prepare and submit regulatory filings and act as a liaison with competent authorities as required.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, providing legal guidance to support business objectives.
- Any other duties as required.
Requirements
- Recognized law degree required.
- Extensive knowledge of legal principles and practices, with the ability to provide strategic legal advice in a business context.
- Knowledge of compliance principles and practices, ideally within a corporate or regulated industry.
- Experience drafting and reviewing contracts, with a focus on compliance aspects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce well‑organized documents and presentations.
- Exceptional communication skills in English and Portuguese, with an emphasis on clear, concise legal writing.
