About the role
- Lead a team of five to seven engineers on the UK settlement team and set technical direction
- Line management duties while remaining hands-on and close to the code
- Ensure quality of delivered code through thoughtful code review
- Build and maintain backend systems and support site for UK-based electricity and gas clients
- Gain deep understanding of UK energy market (MHHS project) and shape systems with a product mindset
- Work with other market teams and client delivery to prioritise, deliver and maintain client work
- Monitor and alert production systems and lead/manage incidents when required
- Mentor and guide engineers to support team growth and operational excellence
Requirements
- General interest in technology and problem-solving
- Level: Senior Software Engineer or above
- Python and Django (or equivalent web framework) web development experience
- Domain modelling and ability to quickly absorb information about a complex industry
- HTTP and REST APIs
- Writing robust and fault-tolerant software
- Celery and async processing
- Postgres (PostgreSQL)
- Experience being a technical leader in a team
