About the role

  • Build and maintain Kong Identity's core services
  • Implement scalable token generation, validation, and introspection services
  • Develop Kong Identity's claims engine
  • Build client management features
  • Implement integration points between Kong Identity and Gateway Manager
  • Develop Kong Identity APIs and work on SDKs
  • Build monitoring, logging, and analytics capabilities
  • Work on global infrastructure components
  • Contribute to Kong Identity's security posture
  • Support production services through on-call responsibilities
  • Write comprehensive automated tests and participate in code reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience building production backend systems and distributed services
  • Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect fundamentals
  • Strong background in building high-performance, low-latency services
  • Experience with JWT tokens, including generation and validation
  • Proven ability to build RESTful APIs
  • Experience with distributed systems challenges
  • Strong coding skills in GoLang
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with database technologies and data modeling for high-scale applications
  • Understanding of security best practices for credential management
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to take ownership of features
