About the role

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable function
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements
  • Maintain a strong business partnering relationship with Procurement and other areas within the company
  • Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, and expense reimbursements
  • Supervise and mentor AP staff, providing training, performance feedback, and development opportunities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures and internal controls to ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive process improvements through effective use of systems
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all AP transactions
  • Monitor aging reports and ensure timely payments to vendors
  • Interact with upper management, other internal customer departments, and external customers
  • Oversee IRS (1099 & 1042) and Connecticut sales tax reporting
  • Oversee quarterly and year-end AP accrual reporting and performing account reconciliations
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation
  • Research and respond to inquiries from K of C staff and vendors

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices
  • Supervisory skills or ability
  • Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Customer service oriented with strong oral, listening, and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with federal and state tax forms
  • Attention to detail
  • Sound judgment
  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise, financial systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • BS in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of experience, preferably in Accounts Payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Familiarity with automated AP tools and workflow systems
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred
