About the role
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable function
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements
- Maintain a strong business partnering relationship with Procurement and other areas within the company
- Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, and expense reimbursements
- Supervise and mentor AP staff, providing training, performance feedback, and development opportunities
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures and internal controls to ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Drive process improvements through effective use of systems
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all AP transactions
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely payments to vendors
- Interact with upper management, other internal customer departments, and external customers
- Oversee IRS (1099 & 1042) and Connecticut sales tax reporting
- Oversee quarterly and year-end AP accrual reporting and performing account reconciliations
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation
- Research and respond to inquiries from K of C staff and vendors
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices
- Supervisory skills or ability
- Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Customer service oriented with strong oral, listening, and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with federal and state tax forms
- Attention to detail
- Sound judgment
- Exposure to large-scale enterprise, financial systems (e.g. SAP)
- Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- BS in Accounting
- 5-7 years of experience, preferably in Accounts Payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Familiarity with automated AP tools and workflow systems
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
