About the role

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment to minimize downtime
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in production lines and machinery
  • Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Implement innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and reduce energy consumption
  • Plan routine maintenance of plant equipment and machinery
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
  • Function as a project development member to maintain new equipment
  • Work with reliability engineers to extend equipment life cycle
  • Manage budget for current and future equipment upgrades and replacements
  • Check work in progress and during completion to meet specification
  • Estimate cost on equipment system and structure repair or replacement
  • Support ongoing preventative maintenance program including vehicles
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety standards and regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards
  • Work closely with production teams to understand operational needs and provide technical support

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and develop needed skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (added advantage)
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in manufacturing or construction materials
  • Experience in the building materials industry or similar manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable engineering practices
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanics and electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in computer software programs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
