About the role
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment to minimize downtime
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in production lines and machinery
- Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and reduce energy consumption
- Plan routine maintenance of plant equipment and machinery
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Function as a project development member to maintain new equipment
- Work with reliability engineers to extend equipment life cycle
- Manage budget for current and future equipment upgrades and replacements
- Check work in progress and during completion to meet specification
- Estimate cost on equipment system and structure repair or replacement
- Support ongoing preventative maintenance program including vehicles
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety standards and regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards
- Work closely with production teams to understand operational needs and provide technical support
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and develop needed skills
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (added advantage)
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in manufacturing or construction materials
- Experience in the building materials industry or similar manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable engineering practices
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanics and electromechanical systems
- Proficiency in computer software programs
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
