About the role
- Manage and drive multiple projects to improve the companies capabilities through basic quality techniques and tools.
- Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
- Assist the plant with product quality improvement through the use of continuous improvement resources such as six sigma, DOE (Design of Experiments), Product and Process Understanding (PPU), and Quality at the Source
- Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
- Assist with procedure creation, dissemination, and understanding via Document Control instrument and rigorous follow-up.
- Ensure commercialized product design intent and product integrity is retained as materials, processes, equipment, methods, and specifications change.
- Evaluate trend data on repeat issues and help plants and staff groups improve CAPAs.
- Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials-related issues.
- Assist with the Smart Factory work to ensure the correct inputs are being measured and tracked.
- Collaborate with Kennametal’s Customers, Quality, and Engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability as it related to product quality.
- Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost-effective production.
- Manage the Document Control System and associated processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards across the shop floor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the business leaders and quality leaders.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess a 4-year technical degree; an Engineering or Metallurgical degree is required.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in structured problem solving (example A3, 8D, quick problem solving, RCCA/CAPA).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and act strategically and tactically to support successful project completion
- Experience with Capability Studies, Measurement System Analysis/Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility, and Calibration Systems.
- At least three years of quality experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills.
