Maintains Litigation staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees and establishes goals and objectives which assist in evaluation of Litigation employees.
Accomplishes staff results in a timely and accurate fashion by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; coordinating and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Establishes authority levels for assigned personnel. Also, monitors and recommends authority levels of claims personnel in assigned areas on a regular basis in conjunction with claims managers within these offices.
Establishes, recommends, approves and monitors case reserves and settlements on litigation files within established guidelines for assigned areas.
Grants appropriate authority for the disposal of those cases.
Ensures that uniform claim procedures are used for file handling including compliance with state laws and regulations.
Maintains knowledge of current statutes and regulatory requirements and case law in each state and advises assigned offices accordingly.
Requirements
2 years experience in Claims Management preferred.
Internal Candidates: Prior supervisory experience may be substituted with 2+ years in the litigation department with demonstrated ability to handle increasing levels of responsibilities, including Litigation.
Demonstrated strong technical ability and knowledge of automobile policies, statutes and trends.
A thorough knowledge of Company claims handling procedures.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Travel is required at times with little advance notice.
