About the role
- Lead and inspire a distributed backend engineering team, setting clear goals and driving execution Translate business needs into a quarterly roadmap, ensuring estimates and architecture are aligned Delegate smartly — balancing workload across the team while keeping momentum on roadmap and technical debt Be hands-on in architectural discussions and collaborate closely with Product to design and ship new features Set the bar high: review code, provide feedback, and ensure engineering quality is never compromised Own complex, high-priority technical implementations that can’t be delegated Oversee release and deployment processes, ensuring stability and smooth rollouts Keep an eye on recurring issues, identify root causes, and reduce errors over time Run meaningful 1:1s — mentoring, coaching, and helping engineers grow in their careers Collaborate across Product, QA, and other teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions Communicate clearly and transparently with stakeholders to ensure alignment and trust Foster a motivated, collaborative team culture where people do their best work
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience Solid professional background in backend software development with proven delivery at scale Deep experience with Java and the Spring Framework Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems Solid knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases Hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization, and AWS Proven track record in identifying and solving technical/process bottlenecks Strong leadership skills — ideally leading teams across multiple geographies Excellent communicator who thrives in cross-functional collaboration Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities Experience in error management, migrations, or scaling complex backend systems Background in e-commerce or large-scale platforms Experience working with external partners (e.g., agencies) Curiosity and exposure to AI or other emerging tech integrations
