About the role

  • Oversee and perform quality reviews of annual billing reconciliations, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts for your assigned property portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client accounting requirements, translating client expectations to property teams and ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to property-level teams, responding to complex accounting questions and coordinating procedures that ensure consistent, high-quality financial management.
  • Lead and develop a team of 2-4 accounting professionals through coaching, training, and performance management, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate cash management activities between property owners and property teams, ensuring proper controls and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Interpret and apply retail lease provisions to accounting processes, ensuring revenue recognition and billing align with lease terms and GAAP requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director on special projects and initiatives that enhance service delivery, improve processes, or support strategic business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited institution.
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience in public and/or private accounting, with real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience demonstrating the ability to manage, develop, and motivate staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application to real estate accounting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
