About the role

  • Patient care: Improve patient outcomes through education, implementation of the latest clinical best practices, and interaction with clinical staff, with a focus on the operating room and intensive care unit
  • Visit key institutions where patients have been treated with the Impella pump portfolio to collect clinically relevant data
  • Provide proctoring/support for cases at new surgical sites and for complex cases at experienced sites
  • Conduct After Action Reviews (AAR) with physicians following cases and communicate findings
  • Training & management of surgical accounts: Responsible for ongoing training at European key sites
  • Enable and drive growth and performance of our surgical business
  • Coordinate and lead activities with SAM, the franchise team (TM/CC), the training department, Medical Office, and manage customer education for new and existing accounts to ensure optimal clinical outcomes
  • Build peer-to-peer surgical networks in the region to exchange best practices and implement/support peer-to-peer education programs (including physician proctoring) in collaboration with our Physician Program Team and Medical Office
  • Therapy development: Support Abiomed’s goal of establishing cardiac recovery as a new standard of care
  • Conferences: Represent the company at surgical conferences throughout the EMEA region
  • Willingness to travel: Ability to travel up to 80% within the assigned territory

Requirements

  • Clinical or technical degree
  • Proven experience in direct patient care in the operating room with cardiac surgery and/or with surgical medical devices in the areas of heart failure and MCS (mechanical circulatory support)
  • Extensive experience providing business support with products and technologies in the cardiovascular field, specifically mechanical circulatory support
  • Solid knowledge of cardiac surgery, perfusion, mechanical circulatory support, intensive care units, and structural heart disease
  • Fluent in German, advanced English skills
  • Valid driver’s license
