About the role
- The training to become an Operating Room Assistant (OTA) (m/f/d) provides students with professional, personal, social and methodological skills for responsible participation in operating and anaesthesiology areas as well as in the emergency department, endoscopy and the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) of a hospital.
- Assist with the preparation, performance and aftercare of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Provide comprehensive care for patients in these areas.
- Collaborate interdisciplinary with other professional groups.
- Practical placements in all surgical specialties at Johanniter-Krankenhaus Stendal, as recommended by the German Hospital Federation (DKG).
- The theoretical instruction takes place at the Training Centre for Health Professions of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.
- Trained practical instructors/supervisors who will guide and support you.
- Contemporary teaching methods with action-oriented training concepts.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma (Abitur), intermediate school leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss) or an equivalent completed school education; or a lower secondary school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) combined with successfully completed vocational training with a planned duration of at least two years; or a lower secondary school leaving certificate combined with a professional permit as a nursing assistant (Health and Nursing Care Assistant) or a successfully completed state-regulated training of at least one year in nursing or elderly care; or another equivalent qualification.
- Enjoy working in a team and value collegial cooperation.
- Possess organizational skills and be able to adapt quickly to new situations.
- Be physically resilient and able to handle stressful situations.
- Have completed a two-week internship in an operative/surgical area.
- Have at least B2 level German (CEFR).
