About the role
- Participate in client interactions to funnel in specs, requirements required for system CPO system design
- Support product design phase with DFM and FMEA guidance
- Develop test strategy and quality control gates with the test engineering teams to support process control, as well as the data analysis for issue detection
- Generate clear documentation of process steps, requirements, specs
- Assist factory in translating these into work instructions and visual aids and verify these reflect correctly the requirements
- Work hand in hand with process engineers in early R&D and NPI to analyze yield pareto, identify root causes through systemic approaches, and drive the process improvements to enable scalable manufacturing of complex systems
- Devise process control mechanisms and guide the factory site in implementation
- Collaborate with test, reliability, quality engineering teams to enable successful product manufacturing
- Train and provide technical guidance to factory product engineers through manufacturing NPI and volume ramp phases
- Maintain an ongoing engagement with the factory operations and engineering teams to continuously drive process and yield improvements
- Keep abreast of new technologies pertaining to the co-packaged-optics systems with a focus on photonics packaging, fiber-optic connectivity, test and metrology methods and equipment
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements
- Relevant 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a similar field is required
- 6+ years of photonics communication system (optical engine / transceiver / switch box / networking rack) development or product engineering in the datacom / telecom industry is required
- Strong knowledge of optical communication links, associated component specs and test methods in R&D and manufacturing for defect detection
- Hands-on capable to develop RF optical test including usage of light sources, RF test equipment, SMUs etc.
- Competency in optics lab work, setting up of optical test benches, cleanroom environments for photonic lab work
- Deep understanding of test for packaged ASICs, photonics, or wireline systems
- Knowledgeable in high-speed transmission component / optical engine / transceiver signal integrity specifications, communication-link specifications
- Highly detail oriented, highly organized & methodical thinker
- Able to tackle engineering challenges and devise structured R&D programs for process development
- Independent, action-oriented, entrepreneurial, and with high sense of product ownership
- Ability to travel up to 70% both domestically and International
