Engineer systems ranging from sprinkler monitoring to multi-panel mass notification systems spanning corporate or campus environments.
Act as a trusted advisor to customers and sales teams—evaluating products, interpreting bid specifications, and recommending “good/better/best” design options.
Apply NFPA, IBC, IFC, and NICET standards to guarantee systems meet the highest safety and regulatory requirements.
Define system infrastructure including networking, cabling, conduit, terminations, and distributed equipment.
Identify technical risks, optimize for cost and reliability, and ensure designs balance performance with efficiency.
Prepare permit-ready drawings, bill of materials, installation procedures, and customer training documents.
Partner with sales, product, and operations teams to align on scope, resource estimates, and installation readiness.
Evaluate emerging fire/life safety technologies and contribute insights to the Product team for continuous improvement.
Requirements
5+ years recent experience designing and engineering fire alarm systems in commercial environments.
NICET II or III in Fire Alarm Systems strongly preferred.
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2022, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
Expertise across fire alarm, sprinkler, access control, and integrated security systems.
Strong understanding of supporting infrastructure (power, UPS, networking, communications).
Ability to interpret floor plans, mechanical, structural, and life safety drawings for design and code analysis.
Excellent communication skills—comfortable working directly with prospects, sales reps, and internal stakeholders.
