About the role
- Support technical investigation of the cause and origin of losses in the Claims Department.
- Understand and determine the cause of damage while eliminating other possible causes.
- Recreate the sequence of events that led to the loss and validate these steps with scientific knowledge.
- Produce abridged and detailed reports in serious damages.
- Testify in court to share expert opinion.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of buildings, construction methods, heat transfer and the laws governing fire propagation.
- Between 2 and 10 years of relevant experience as a forensic engineer in investigating the origin and causes of fires.
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or relevant applied sciences with at least five years of experience is required.
- Licensure with a provincial Engineering Association, or eligibility for licensure, is required.
- Certification: The candidate must hold or be able to obtain CFI, CFEI, CFVI or WETT certification.
