• Conduct expert geospatial analysis on dynamic conflicts by synthesizing multiple open-source information on political and security developments.
• Compiles, manipulates, and analyzes geospatial data.

Geospatial Researcher, ArcGIS

Operations

• Maintain office spaces, conference rooms, closets, and AV room’s cleanliness and organization.
• Maintain ISW office calendar to ensure successful execution of events and meetings and deconflict use-of-space requests as needed.
• Manage main ISW phone line and assist with management of the main ISW email inbox and tech support email inbox.
• Collect and distribute mail 2-3x a week.
• Order and manage inventory of basic office and kitchen supplies, including paper, coffee, and light snacks.
• Order and maintain a record of office stationery and business cards.
• Support the execution of all in-person external events and meetings, including escorting and hosting ISW guests and visitors, event space set-up and breakdown.
• Order and manage external printing vendors or commercial printers for products.
• Provide administrative support across the organization, such as assisting with the printing and collation of documents as necessary.
• Facilitate staff and intern access to necessary subscriptions and monitor subscription use.
• Assist in operational credit card expenses reporting and receipt submission in coordination with the accounting team.
• Organize, maintain, and update ISW’s guest reception area.
• Coordinate, and book travel and accommodations for ISW staff as needed.
• Coordinate with ISW vendors as needed.
• Create, update and maintain operations standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Fulfill other operations tasks and responsibilities as required.
• Maintain IT inventory, including tracking and updating equipment and ensuring proper functionality.
• Perform basic light tech/IT troubleshooting of identified routine challenges and escalate as necessary.
• Assist with technical onboarding and offboarding of new staff and interns.
• Provide administrative support to Development team as needed, including gift entry, processing of acknowledgements, and organizing donor materials.

Operations Coordinator

Communications

• The Communications and Publishing Associate will support the External Relations Team in the preparation and dissemination of ISW content to its global audiences and the evaluation of ISW’s impact and audience engagement.
• Publish products on a regular basis on a rotation with other members of the External Relations Team and staff as directed by the Director of Strategic Initiatives or their designated supervisor.
• This will require after-hours and weekend work;
• Copyedit and publish analyst work to ISW’s website in accordance with ISW brand standards and guidelines;
• Maintain ISW’s communications via its website, mailings, and social media platforms;
• Prepare, update, maintain, and tag or retag content on the new website platform, in conjunction with other key stakeholders and members of the External Relations Team, as directed by Director of Strategic Initiatives or their designated supervisor;
• Perform regular data curation and maintenance of ISW’s segmented lists;
• Write and edit digital copy for website and social media posts as directed by the Director of Strategic Initiatives or their designated supervisor;
• Compose and edit press releases, company literature, talking points and other written materials for internal and external use upon request;
• Support the organization’s responses to interview, briefing, and other media requests;
• Support analyst engagements with military decision makers, government officials, members of Congress, and their staffs in order to disseminate timely information and research findings and frame the policy relevance of ISW’s research.
• Analyze media coverage of key national security topics to identify gaps in coverage or key themes relevant to ISW’s work;
• Assist with tracking ISW’s public impact through quantitative and qualitative metrics to inform ISW’s communications strategy;
• Assist with the collection, structuring, and evaluation of data regarding ISW’s audience engagement across platforms including the ISW website, email, and social media platforms;
• Monitor the impact of ISW’s work in the broader national security policy community.
