About the role

  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure consistent application of GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Assist with revenue recognition processes for retainers, fixed-fee projects, and time-and-materials engagements.
  • Reconcile project costs, WIP, and deferred revenue balances.
  • Partner with Project and Account Management teams to ensure accurate job setup, project reporting, and expense tracking.
  • Process vendor invoices, match POs, and ensure proper coding to jobs and cost centers.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables, identify overdue accounts, and assist with collections follow-up.
  • Prepare financial schedules, supporting documentation, and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate data within accounting and project management systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Sage Intacct, Kantata/Mavenlink).

Requirements

  • 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in advertising, media, creative services, or professional services.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices.
  • Experience with project-based accounting, WIP, and client billing.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems (NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Intacct, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Preferred).
  • CPA track or certification (Preferred).
  • Experience in digital, media, or integrated advertising agencies (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with time-tracking and project management systems (Preferred).
