About the role
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure consistent application of GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Assist with revenue recognition processes for retainers, fixed-fee projects, and time-and-materials engagements.
- Reconcile project costs, WIP, and deferred revenue balances.
- Partner with Project and Account Management teams to ensure accurate job setup, project reporting, and expense tracking.
- Process vendor invoices, match POs, and ensure proper coding to jobs and cost centers.
- Monitor outstanding receivables, identify overdue accounts, and assist with collections follow-up.
- Prepare financial schedules, supporting documentation, and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate data within accounting and project management systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Sage Intacct, Kantata/Mavenlink).
Requirements
- 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in advertising, media, creative services, or professional services.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices.
- Experience with project-based accounting, WIP, and client billing.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems (NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Intacct, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Preferred).
- CPA track or certification (Preferred).
- Experience in digital, media, or integrated advertising agencies (Preferred).
- Familiarity with time-tracking and project management systems (Preferred).
