About the role

  • Balance hands-on VFX asset creation with team leadership
  • Partner closely with Principal VFX Artist to plan and create content
  • Oversee and support external VFX partners
  • Collaborate with Production Management to scope and estimate work
  • Work closely with Art Directors to develop visual targets
  • Review VFX artists’ work for aesthetic and technical performance
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines for gameplay and cinematics
  • Coordinate with teams to ensure timely delivery of VFX assets
  • Work with Tool and Engine team for ongoing improvements
  • Champion and implement new production methods and optimizations
  • Address complaints related to workplace conduct
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of VFX artists

Requirements

  • Advanced level in Houdini and Maya
  • 3D modeling and procedural modeling skills
  • Strong knowledge of modern game engines and editors (e.g. Unreal, Unity)
  • Proficient with real-time particle-editors and VFX systems (e.g. Unreal’s Niagara)
  • Advanced understanding of complex node-based shader networks
  • Familiarity with game scripting and/or node-based systems
  • Strong grasp of technical scripting, programming, and expressions
  • Proficient in Photoshop for painting and editing textures
  • Knowledge of procedural texture generation software
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
