About the role
- Greet clients and patients warmly in a professional, friendly manner
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage client communications
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records using veterinary practice software
- Explain treatment plans, billing, and services clearly and compassionately
- Provide emotional support to clients during both routine and emergency visits
- Handle client check-in and check-out, invoicing, and payment processing
- Assist in processing and preparing prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian (DVM)
- Accurately label, fill, and dispense medications following all safety protocols
- Maintain proper documentation, inventory, and storage of medications
- Communicate medication instructions as directed by the veterinarian
- Support compliance with veterinary pharmacy regulations and guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or medical office setting
- Prior work as a veterinary receptionist, client care coordinator, or front desk associate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Calm, compassionate demeanor with strong emotional intelligence
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
- Weekend availability required
- Not an entry-level veterinary position; applicants must have prior experience in a client-facing role in the veterinary or healthcare field
- Bonus Skills (Preferred but not required):
- Familiarity with veterinary software (e.g., Cornerstone, AVImark, ezyVet)
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and pet care procedures
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and multitask in emergency situations.
