About the role
- Lead the development and delivery of the process safety strategy
- Ensure alignment across the business and strengthen how major hazards are managed
- Focus on implementing the Process Safety Management System
- Develop common design and engineering standards
- Support the use of PSPIs
- Ensure robust risk assessments and hazard identification
- Provide expert advice during high‑risk incidents
- Prepare the organisation for emerging process technologies
- Influence internal and external stakeholders
- Develop a team of up to 10 Process Safety Engineers
- Represent Anglian Water at industry forums and deputise for the Group Process Safety Lead when required
Requirements
- Degree in Process or Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status
- Significant experience in Process Safety within a high‑hazard industry
- Experience working with Competent Authorities
- Demonstrable experience of leading and developing teams
- Nationally recognised Process Safety qualification
- Nationally recognised Safety qualification
- Strong understanding of COMAH, DSEAR, PHA, MOC and risk management
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and Hazardous Area drawings
- Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience supporting operations and/or projects
- Ability to influence senior leaders and work across complex, multi‑disciplinary teams
- Highly computer literate with experience using process safety software
- Experience working with partner organisations or alliances
- Project management qualifications (desirable)
