About the role

  • Lead architecture for decentralised cloud infrastructure and ICN’s Open Cloud Platform
  • Steer the technical roadmap, guide protocol design, and author whitepapers, architectural diagrams, and technical proposals
  • Critically analyse existing infrastructure and devise pragmatic, phased strategies to migrate components from centralised to decentralised architectures
  • Provide definitive recommendations on "build vs. buy" decisions including L1/L2 selection, consensus mechanisms, and data availability
  • Present, validate, and iterate architectural proposals with engineering and product teams; articulate complex concepts and trade-offs
  • Provide technical leadership and act as a thought leader; potentially guide and empower a small team of architects
  • Ensure architecture supports product roadmap, security, scalability, smart contract architecture, node infrastructure, integrations, and performance optimisation
  • Work closely with the CTO and engineering team to align technology with company goals
  • Focus on delivery: translate high-level strategy into production implementations tied to product roadmap

Requirements

  • Proven Web3 architectural experience as Staff/Principal Engineer or Architect on large-scale production Web3 projects
  • Expert-level understanding of blockchain fundamentals, dApp architecture, smart contract limitations, consensus algorithms, and the decentralized ecosystem
  • 10+ years in Software Engineering leadership with at least 4 years in Web3
  • M.Sc or Ph.D in Computer Science, Information Security or another related technical field
  • Broad technical fluency in distributed/decentralised systems and high-load architectures
  • Experience setting direction for small teams and working with distributed teams and agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills from junior to C-suite levels
  • Pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset balancing visionary thinking with practical implementation
  • Strong conviction with the humility to adapt views based on new data or feedback
  • First-principles problem-solving ability
  • Nice to have: experience designing or contributing to L1 or L2 blockchain protocols
  • Nice to have: deep knowledge of cryptography and security best practices
  • Nice to have: contributions to open-source projects in the Web3 space
  • Nice to have: experience with tokenomics and protocol incentive design
