About the role
- Handles moderate to complex claims with a focus on high service levels
- Manages all aspects of an assigned California claims inventory
- Communicates effectively with policyholders, agents, attorneys, and witnesses
- Investigates claims to determine exposure and recommend strategies
- Utilizes resolution tactics to drive outcomes
- Collaborates with team members from various departments
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for the department
- Ensures accuracy of data in claims system
- Provides knowledge transfer across the organization
- Acts as a mentor for less experienced team members
- Administers timely benefits to injured workers and manages payments as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent education and experience) preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of related claims experience
- Workers’ Compensation Certification that meets minimum standards
- State Workers Compensation License is required in some branches
- Good understanding of laws and jurisdictional restraints to manage claims
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills required
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information at meetings, to management and clients
- Must be adept at learning new technology and embrace change
