About the role
- Focus on the planning and delivery of core transformational projects, in line with internal control and financial guidelines.
- Consistently deliver projects against prescribed criteria and standards, supporting an environment where all aspects of delivery (i.e. progress/issues/risks/resources) are effectively managed.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies at a project level, leveraging project management and relationship-building skills to achieve this.
- Present an accurate view of transformation delivery at project level, ensuring change control is managed tightly.
- With support, identify and facilitate trade-offs within and outside areas of delivery responsibility as appropriate.
- Support effective resource planning at a project level, working closely with Transformation and wider business resource owners to support effective allocation of common resources and skills.
- Ensure effective communication to all project stakeholders and, with support, to other parts and levels of the organisation.
- Report project progress against change targets and identify effective mitigation to address gaps identified at a project level.
- Comply with standardised IAG Cargo project management principles, techniques, methods and tools.
- Support effective relationship and supplier management with external suppliers.
- Support embedding of change into the organisation at all levels through effective business change planning and implementation, at project level.
- Contribute to strong working relationships with project sponsors, accountable business owners and senior managers, within the agreed project delivery remit.
- Lead and deliver process improvement initiatives by analysing, redesigning, and implementing efficient, customer-focused business processes using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies across multiple projects, inc facilitation of workshops as required.
Requirements
- Proven project management and planning experience, demonstrated by a successful track record of managing change projects to cost, quality and time.
- Experience of planning and delivering business change activities at a project level.
- Experience of owning and driving effective identification and mitigation of risks, issues and dependencies on projects, with support from other colleagues.
- Solid stakeholder management skills, with a focus on immediate project-level colleagues, and with support to include senior management, operational staff, and external suppliers to achieve required outcomes.
- Experience of working within, or alongside, a Programme Management Office (PMO), support effective governance, planning and progress reporting.
- Exposure to and understanding of end-to-end business case development and approvals process for projects, in large, matrix-style organisations.
- Financially literate with understanding of core budget management principles; ability to apply on real-life projects and develop effective relationships with Finance and Reporting colleagues.
- A track record of effective knowledge management and learning at project level, to support continuous improvement.
- A developing understanding of how to manage external suppliers and end-to-end procurement processes.
- Experience of working in simple and more complex (e.g. hybrid) project teams of internal/contractor resources.
- Experience from the aviation and/or logistics sectors would be a bonus but is not essential; experience of working on complex IT projects and fast-paced, changeable environments with new technology/product highly desirable.
- Proficient in MS Office and comfort in using Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project to enable day-to-day project delivery requirements.
