Project Manager

• Overseeing electric utility construction projects from start to finish, focusing on planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
• Review RFP, proposal, estimate, schedule, and all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract.
• Arrange meetings to discuss and finalize outage schedule, permits and job layout with the appropriate operations group.
• Oversight of material deliveries, tracking, and overall communication to the customer.
• Ensure the project crew has all required vehicles, equipment, and tooling on-site in time for the start of the project.
• Assist in the development of project safety plans, review with the S&Q department and submit to customer prior to project start.
• Service the client in a timely and respectful manner; meeting or exceeding their expectations.
• Work with owners, engineers and/or subcontractors to promptly resolve project problems.
• Manage day-to-day customer interaction; schedule and attend final project walk down with the customer; ensure completion of “punch list” tasks.
• Ensure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents in accordance with the pre-construction process and the customer’s expectations.

• Revenue Growth & Backlog Development - Collaborate with Vice Presidents and Regional Managers to identify revenue and backlog gaps; provide qualified business opportunities aligned with regional revenue and backlog needs; identify and communicate opportunities that align with the company’s Vision and Objectives; and assist operations in the development of new initiatives and lines of business.
• Business Development & Market Expansion - Develop new customer relationships by identifying, evaluating, and recommending strategic prospects within the region; maintain and expand existing customer relationships across all applicable lines of business; explore and recommend new markets to support regional growth strategies; and support the startup and expansion of new regional offices.
• Marketing, Proposals & Qualifications Support - Assist with regional RFP responses by providing market knowledge and strategic insight; support the development and ongoing maintenance of Statements of Qualification (SOQs); and assist in the creation and upkeep of marketing materials to support business development efforts.
• Customer Relationship Management & Market Intelligence - Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and opportunity data through effective CRM management and maintain a working knowledge of IB Abel’s capabilities to effectively position services and solutions.
• Community, Industry & Stakeholder Engagement – Represent the company through active involvement in community and industry organizations, including unions and NECA; and build and maintain strong relationships with key regional stakeholders.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on all levels of design documents; perform design-build, conceptual, and GMP estimating; prepare GMP proposals and estimates in various customer-required formats.
• Set up and lead pre-estimating meetings for each project; develop detailed proposal letters and bid forms; work collaboratively to produce high-quality RFP deliverables aligned with client expectations.
• Solicit, analyze, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for completeness, scope alignment, and best value.
• Perform peer reviews of regional estimates, proposals, and lead bid reviews; participate in estimate review meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and support Associate Estimators; assist in creating and executing development plans for Associate Estimators.

Payroll

• Assist with weekly preparation of multi-state/union payroll
• Prepares payroll tax and benefit payments and required reporting
• Updates payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, and department/division transfers
• Ensures payroll software is updated to reflect our current employee base and reviews new hire onboarding forms
• Assist with external requests for Verification of Employment and Unemployment Insurance Claims
• Determines payroll liabilities through the calculation of employee federal, state income, and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and worker’s compensation payments
• Reconcile weekly payroll processing to general ledger posting
• Assist with audit requests, quarterly payroll tax reporting, and monthly union benefit reporting
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements
• Complies with local union requirements for all union employees
