About the role
- Validate product complaints through qualitative analysis, warranty parts review, and identification of new, emerging, and systemic product issues.
- Develop and implement countermeasures for field repairs and production in coordination with HMC and affiliated organizations.
- Ensure timely publication of all applicable Technical Service Bulletins.
- Support initiatives to achieve strong performance in CR, IQS, and VDS surveys.
- Identify and report field vehicles chassis, steering & handling, brakes, and NVH systems quality concerns.
- Support investigation & root cause analysis on issues related to Chassis components, steering and handling, brakes system, and chassis NVH.
- Coordinate the collection and analysis of warranty return parts, dealer visits and field investigations to determine the cause of failure and initiate corrective action.
- Prepare Quality Information Report documents, clearly explaining condition with relevant photographs/illustrations/sample parts/videos and recommended solutions.
- Develop, evaluate, and validate countermeasures.
- Manage the development of field repair solutions and initiate production changes, as necessary.
- Prepare, evaluate, and launch Technical Service Bulletins.
- Participate in new model “Ride and Drive” events to evaluate performance of chassis, steering and handling, brakes performance, and chassis NVH as required.
- Support new models Launch Quality Monitoring Process.
- Monitor and clearly identify JDPA IQS/VDS/CSI (FRFT) and CR Reliability (Durability) surveys liabilities and develop improvement and validation plans accordingly.
- Provide technical support to field staff, Techline, Consumer Affairs, Parts, Legal, and Warranty departments as required.
- Monitor the analysis of warranty and Techline databases, customer surveys, warranty parts analyses and Field Service Engineering reports on an ongoing basis to detect new systematic product problems and to gauge the effectiveness of countermeasures taken against known problems.
- Review and prepare the Monthly Quality Report for assigned system and models.
- Work closely and collaboratively with various groups (Data Analysis Group, Field Service Engineers, Legal, Consumer Affairs, Warranty, Parts and Techline) to review and resolve technical and service-related problems.
- Support and conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies.
- Work with engineering counterparts overseas on joint activities and development projects including participation in extreme weather / ambient testing to validate functional performance against requirements.
- Attend Port POE Audit.
- Provide Port maintenance items and processing requirements.
- Conduct other tasks related to the purpose of this position as assigned or requested.
- Manage Chassis, steering & handling, brakes, and NVH related activities for assigned models and coordinate within HMNA and affiliated organizations.
- Author Quality Information Reports (QIR).
- Author Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
- Provide technical support/direction to field staff, TechLine and various internal HMA/GMA groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering or related science preferred.
- Master’s degree in automotive engineering, or related science a plus.
- Six or more years of automotive experience (retail or wholesale experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of automotive chassis, steering, braking, and NVH systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
