About the role

  • Act as the Canadian Automotive Industry Regulatory Expert (Federal and Provincial).
  • Regularly liaise between government bodies, Hyundai's factories and engineering centers to ensure compliance with all legislation and regulations related to all Company products.
  • Coordinate the supply of certification tests and data as requested by Transport Canada (TC).
  • Coordinate and support the supply of certification/GHG and FE data as required by regulation to Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
  • Submit Annual Vehicle and Engine Emissions data to ECCC.
  • Submit ZEV data to the representative Federal/Provincial bodies as required by regulation.
  • Monitor credit status and support corporate credit sale/purchase as required.
  • Certify vehicles that are unique to the Canadian market with the Canadian government (e.g. TC & ECCC).
  • Act as a liaison between the Company's factories / engineering centers and government bodies with respect to inquiries related to technical information.
  • Represent Hyundai with company associations (GAC) to monitor all new proposed legislation and/or Memorandum of Understandings (MOU's) / agreements.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Technical Meetings.
  • Summarize meeting minutes and circulate to internal departments.
  • Follow-up and provide input to proposals on behalf of Hyundai.
  • Consult with key stakeholders, review information and communicate with relevant parties.
  • Review, analyze and communicate to Management proposed regulations related to the automotive industry from various government bodies and provide input to regulators accordingly.
  • Liaise with HAC Safety & Corporate Affairs Group, as well as other HAC departments, and HMA, HATCI and HMC as required.
  • Review, analyze and report on current and future activities relating to the international harmonization of safety standards and regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for Dealers, internal staff and management related to safety regulatory changes and how they affect each party.
  • Support Public Relations and advertising with messaging that shows Hyundai in a positive light.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited engineering program and achievement of an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering (or an equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in same or similar function.
  • Engineering background is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of French an asset.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Good Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skillset.
  • Good skillset to manage outside sources.
  • Vehicle Safety and Emissions Experience.
  • Assertive and professional.
  • Good relationship building capability.
  • Excellent organizational skill set.
  • 5% or less travelling may needed.
