About the role
- The Lead, Cloud Network Engineer designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities.
- The Lead, Network Engineer works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
- The Lead Network Support Engineer provides operational support for Humana's enterprise network spanning government, retail clinics, pharmacies, distribution centers, corporate campus and datacenters.
- Primary responsibility: ensure network operations team monitors performance and health and serves as restoration lead on outage calls.
- Team Lead responsibilities include responding to escalations for major incidents; acting as liaison with infrastructure teams; maintaining and operating network solutions; providing escalation on incidents/requests; managing vendors and service providers; consolidating legacy technologies; managing Network OpEx budgets; communicating status to management; researching new technologies; roadmapping; documenting network infrastructure; capacity and performance planning; disaster recovery integration; continuous knowledge and skills improvement.
- Responsibilities for network operations supporting over 1800 applications, 80K users, 300+ locations, multiple datacenters, multi-cloud environments.
- Monitor and tune network infrastructure; maintain network documentation; develop and improve guidelines; conduct research on emerging products to improve services.

Requirements
- BS/BA in a technical or scientific field; Or 8+ years in related experience.
- 5+ years of experience architecting, implementing and supporting large-scale cloud network infrastructure, with advanced experience designing enterprise cloud network solutions.
- Network engineering certification such as CCNA through CCNP or the equivalent
- 5+ years of project leadership experience.
- 8+ years of Layer 2/ Layer 3 network architectural design (LAN/WAN) and engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and other LAN/WAN technologies.
- Strong experience supporting large-scale datacenters and remote sites.
- Experience with Cisco networking equipment.
- Experience with VPN technologies.
- Knowledge of QoS and network security functions (firewalls, VPN, IPS, etc).
- ISP and/or carrier backbone engineering experience/knowledge.
- Ability to manage complex multi-organizational projects.
- Must possess strong communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences (including senior leadership).
- Experience with implementing and operating a software-defined network environment (VXLAN, EVPN, Vipetla etc.).
- Vendor management skills (hardware/software security vendors as well as third party vendors).
- Experience working with Data Center Colocation facilities and virtual network fabric provided by vendors such as Equinix and Mega-Port.
- Able to mentor peers on engineering team in terms of continuing education and daily project support.
- Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree Cloud Certifications Expertise with DCMP
