About the role
- Oversee and lead the Mine Operations department functions including drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, support equipment and mine training
- Ensure safe mining operations that adheres to the BC Mines and Reclamation Code and Copper Mountain Standard Operating Procedures
- Actively participate in creating a safe and efficient operation by facilitating crew meetings, visible felt leadership, workplace inspections, and hazard identification
- Ensure effective day-to-day management of open pit operations including drill and blast, load and haul and dump and pit services
- Coordinator open pit capital projects as directed by the Mine Operations Manager
- Ensure effective training of mine operations personnel and site mobile equipment operations training
- Achieve the mine’s annual production and cost budget
Requirements
- Degree in Mine Engineering or a related field
- A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in medium to large scale open pit operations and engineering roles with progressing career advancement
- P. Eng designation or ability to register with EGBC as a Professional Engineer is considered an asset
- Holds or able to obtain Open Pit Shift Boss ticket in British Columbia
- Previous management experience with proven leadership abilities
- Mine rescue and blasting certifications are considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license
