About the role
- Own the backend services that power the entire freemium journey, from first touch to upgrade.
- Partner with AI engineers, product managers, designers, and marketers to deliver a seamless, data-driven funnel that acquires, engages, and converts millions of users.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor team members as a Technical Lead.
- Play a crucial role in strategic decision-making, ensuring backend technologies meet market demands.
- Lead small, high-impact teams, ship quickly, and weave AI into the customer path.
- Proactively take ownership of team on-call health, product reliability, and quality.
- Collaborate across teams and with other Tech Leads to resolve cross-team issues and set compelling goals.
Requirements
- A Tech Lead is a player-coach responsible for leading a small team.
- They are recognized as high-performing engineers.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and other Tech Leads to define and share goals.
- Work across teams with other TLs to resolve cross-team issues.
- Proactively take ownership of their team’s on-call health and product reliability and quality.
- Have an interest and opinion in the direction of the product and co-set direction with the leadership triad.
- Proactively grow the members of their team.
- Create and foster diverse teams and an inclusive culture.
- Strong senior engineer with experience leading small teams using Java.
- Open to experimentation and new ways of doing things; values working solution over the optimal solution.
- Customer-centric attitude and ability to develop opinions about the HubSpot product.
- Understanding of building reliable systems in a complex architectural space.
- Partner with AI engineers, product managers, designers, and marketers to deliver the freemium journey.
