About the role
- Support projects in sensor technologies, life support systems, and environmental control systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies on emerging aerospace technologies and materials.
- Develop and validate innovative concepts through prototyping and testing.
- Assist with project management, including monitoring supplier performance and reporting to program management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate R&D outputs into product development.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders, with some travel required to support projects in the UK, Europe, and the USA.
Requirements
- A minimum of an HNC/HND in mechatronics or related engineering field. MSc or PHD would be ideal
- Background on mechatronics, electronics, sensors design, AI/Machine Learning, photonic circuits, Quantum sensing / Quantum mechanics
- Familiarity with experimental methods, lab testing, or rapid prototyping techniques is beneficial.
- A willingness to learn and engage with experimental processes and methodologies.
- Strong interest in applying hands-on approaches to problem-solving in a lab environment.
- Awareness of regulated aerospace working practices (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, AS9100) and awareness of aerospace environmental qualification standards such as RTCA DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 would be preferable
