Job Level
About the role
- Co-own the platform roadmap in close partnership with engineering leadership for authentication, authorization, identity, and shared business capabilities, balancing immediate needs with long-term scale, security, and developer velocity
- Partner with Engineering and leadership to help define platform strategy, direction, and roadmap
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure business-critical systems scale reliably and meet company needs
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear product direction, requirements, success metrics, and customer-facing experience implications
- Lead cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Design to ensure platform decisions consider both system integrity and end-user experience
- Define and track outcomes related to reliability, security posture, developer velocity, and scalability
- Partner with Engineering to define and operationalize platform KPIs, using metrics to drive prioritization and uncover gaps in capabilities and services
- Proactively identify risks, gaps, and opportunities in our platform architecture as the company grows, including build vs. buy decisions and vendor evaluations for platform capabilities
- Own the end-to-end experience for customer-facing platform surfaces (e.g., auth flows, permissions, identity-related UX)
- Ensure platform experiences are intuitive, trustworthy, and aligned with Homebase’s product quality bar
- Partner with Product Design and Research to validate platform-driven user experiences
- Advocate for customers while balancing technical constraints and long-term platform health
- Use AI tools to accelerate product discovery, requirements clarity, and decision-making—and continuously improve how platform PM work gets done
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, with significant time spent on platform, infrastructure, or highly technical product areas
- Strong technical background (e.g., prior engineering experience or deep technical fluency working with engineers)
- Hands-on experience with authentication, authorization, identity systems, or security-adjacent domains, including evaluating third-party solutions and making build vs. buy recommendations
- Proven ability to influence without authority and partner effectively with senior engineering leaders
- Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and defining structure where none exists
- Demonstrated ability to build for scale, reliability, security, and customer experience, not just internal-facing capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for technical audiences
- AI Fluency: Experience using AI tools to improve product workflows, analyze tradeoffs, or increase execution velocity
- Ability to collaborate in the office weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at a Homebase hub
