About the role

  • Responsible for supporting all facets of the HR department including administrative functions.
  • Advises employees and management on company policy and procedure.
  • Supports in the oversight of employee request and requirements, ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
  • Assists department in carrying out various administrative duties, special projects, and human resource functions as needed.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions using Ceridian HRIS system.
  • Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork including benefits.
  • Sources candidates through multiple platforms (job boards, social media, Company website, job fairs, etc.) and analyzes results.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
  • Corresponds with drug testing facility and schedules employees for random screenings.
  • Conducts new hire onboardings and orientation.
  • Promotes company culture and values through monthly engagement events including special milestone and recognition events.
  • Complies with local union collective bargaining agreement and Company handbook policies.
  • Promotes community outreach through partnership with local schools, internship programs and community events.
  • Collects data and analyzes reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Prepares reports and other related documents for the Department of Labor and other federal and state agencies as required on an annual or ad hoc basis.
  • Prepares and administers department audits as directed (I-9’s, employee files, etc.).
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Follows up with Hiring managers and employees at the 30, 60 and 90 period to ensure the processes are being followed and new hires feel supported.
  • Communicates with employees or applicants regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Provides support during the Performance Management process (i.e. helping coordinate kickoff, scheduling trainings, tracking status, providing support to employees at all levels, etc.).
  • Provides support during open enrollment.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with sensitive materials.
  • Utilize the HRIS software program to maintain appropriate up-to-date data on employee information and statistics.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding employment laws and compliance.
  • Researches state laws in other parts of the country.
  • All other job duties and special projects assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university preferred or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws affecting human resources administration.
  • Basic understanding of applicant tracking systems and HR software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management, both local and long distance.
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program.
  • Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
