About the role
- Responsible for preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Hitachi’s industrial and chemistry products, including scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and transmission electron microscopes (TEM) models at customer facilities throughout the United States and internationally.
- Handle all types of service requests, including advanced requests, preventative maintenance, billable service, installations, and sales support.
- Train staff on performing specialized field service delivery procedures.
- Interface with site coordinator to perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate records of all work performed and training received in HTA’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy and procedures.
- Provide on-site technical support for customers, including resolution of extremely complex equipment problems, acceptance testing, and technology calibration.
- Address all service-related issues at customer sites and provide training to customers and new field service engineers.
- Provide technical guidance to junior field engineers and customers.
- Perform system installations at customer sites and complete field service documentation utilized for tracking system reliability and customer billing.
- Set and keep appropriate schedules for service on assigned equipment.
- 90% of time spent traveling internationally to customer locations in Latin America.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or the foreign equivalent) in Engineering.
- 2 years of experience in the job offered or related.
- Experience with: installation of Hitachi TM4000 Series & SU Series (SU3500, SU3800, SU5000, SU7000, and SU8000);
- preventative & corrective maintenance on Hitachi SEM (scanning electron microscopes)/TEM (transmission electron microscopes) models;
- technical training to customers on electron microscopy;
- technical support to customers on new SEM/TEM product sales & applications;
- installation of Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) systems on Hitachi Electron Microscopes.
