About the role
- Manage customs operations for inbound shipments, ensuring timely clearance and delivery.
- Review and validate import documentation against trade compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit detailed customs instructions in SAP GTS for brokers.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and provide accurate information for customs processes.
- Monitor and audit customs entries, addressing discrepancies and coordinating corrections.
- Analyze delays and implement improvements to prevent storage costs and delivery issues.
- Develop and maintain performance reports (daily, monthly, yearly) for customs operations.
- Support cost-saving initiatives through process optimization in customs matters.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge in customs Law and Regulations (HS codes, Incoterms, customs procedures: free trade agreements, section 232 regulation)
- 10+ years of experience in customs managing international inbound shipments
- Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency
- Good team player
- Having knowledge of customs in Canada is a plus
- Spoken a second language such as Spanish and/or French is a plus
- Coming from a custom broker (or licensed broker) is a relevant plus
- Experience in working with SAP S4 Hana (modules of GTS & TM)
