About the role

  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly account reconciliations related to tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax legislation.
  • Assist in preparing and posting journal entries associated with tax provisions and adjustments, maintaining detailed documentation.
  • Review and ensure compliance with complex federal, state, local, and international tax filings, including reporting and provisions, in accordance with current legislation and standards.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and foreign tax depreciation reports along with related tax adjustments.
  • Research, address, and resolve inquiries, notices, or audit document requests from tax authorities; prepare technical memoranda and correspondence to support responses.
  • Support the payment and correspondence processes using tools like Anybill, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of advanced federal, state, local, and international tax laws and tax accounting pronouncements; stay current with legislative changes impacting the business.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing the tax provision process for US and foreign entities in accordance with ASC 740, ensuring proper accounting and reporting.
  • Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to advise on tax matters, policy interpretation, and industry-specific taxability and collection issues.
  • Assist with business development activities, including due diligence, tax projections, and integration support for acquisitions or new ventures.
  • Support and mentor interns, paraprofessionals, and new staff in tax technology, systems, and processes, promoting knowledge sharing and development.
  • Review and approve work prepared by staff accountants, interns, and paraprofessionals, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing tax planning strategies, analyzing tax return positions, and refining departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the overall tax function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant tax experience and/or formal training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of tax accounting, compliance, and related regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, seeking opportunities to streamline and enhance tax processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across teams and functions.
  • Experience with tax technology systems such as JD Edwards, OneStream, SAGE, FAS Fixed Asset, OneSource, CCH/BNA, and Anybill is highly desirable.
