About the role

  • lead build strategy and construction-related strategic initiatives under two main lines of effort: Future submarine program build strategy (SSN(X), Undersea Warfare, Future Virginia Class
  • develop innovative strategies to modify overall submarine and module assembly plans, arrangements, and designs to reduce schedule and cost
  • work with external partners to introduce new technologies to enable alternative build strategies
  • own construction-related tasking on SSN(X) and Virginia Class future propulsion plant designs
  • support "design for producibility" efforts across all system and component designs on future submarine programs
  • develop build strategy, investment, and partnership plans to support Independent Virginia Class Submarine build strategy Shipyard Throughput Strategy
  • program lead for partnerships to introduce new technologies into the shipyard or develop capabilities at external partners
  • coordinate construction input into strategic investments (e.g., facility designs, technology investments)
  • lead diagnostic analysis to identify current constraints and potential solutions to increase throughput

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience, Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience, High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience, High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
