Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources; provide support in management and administration of employee compensation, time & attendance, and benefits for various employees and legal entities throughout the organization.
Enter payroll information, calculate wages, and make payments including leaves, overtime, vacation pay, statutory holidays, payroll deductions and other payroll transactions.
Lead and assist with company’s benefits rollout program; ensure employees are onboarded; manage their enrollment and renewal.
Maintain and manage time and attendance software for hourly staff including shift approvals, shift cancellations and shift scheduling.
Perform termination process calculations as per employment standards across all Canadian provinces.
Initiate periodical payments; prepare and administer cheques; initiate direct deposits.
Work with HR and operational stakeholders to work through and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Issue statements, invoices, receipts and maintain financial records.
Update paper and electronic payroll records by maintaining employee changes across various systems (adjustments on pay rates, transfers, new entity movement, consolidation).
Prepare ROE/T4 on a timely basis and assist with EI inquiries.
Support the Finance team with payroll reports (monthly headcount, quarterly report, etc.) and provide special projects & ad hoc reporting as required.
Onboard and offboard employees in the Payroll system; provide and assist management with Dayforce and timesheet approval training.
Cross reference various modules within HRIS to maintain data integrity; perform union deductions and calculations; report for worker's compensation for all provinces and administer Ontario employer health tax accordingly for all legal entities.
Requirements
1 -3 years of experience.
Ability to work in a fast paced and high volume environment with consistent growth and be able to meet all deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Some knowledge of payroll principles.
Some knowledge and experience using Ceridian Dayforce or other systems.
WSIB and WCB compliance for all Canadian provinces.
Experience and understanding of employer health taxes in Manitoba and Ontario.
Level of knowledge with CRA requirements for each provincial legislation.
Clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to tolerate a high degree of ambiguity and work in a highly dynamic, ever-changing environment while meeting deadlines.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
