About the role

  • Establish and maintain liaison with health professionals, community groups and organizations involved in issues related to community development;
  • Collaborate with peers from other organizations and community members to support, plan, design, implement and evaluate programs and services based on identified community needs;
  • Participate in coordinating activities with relevant programs and services of the Health Centre;
  • Refer any request from a client group or an organization to the appropriate programs or resources;
  • Review research reports and documents on community health and the social determinants of health;
  • Stay informed about social development resources available in the community and share this information with colleagues;
  • Prepare statistical data on community activities;
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures and standards, as well as applicable external legislative, regulatory, accreditation and professional requirements;
  • Perform other tasks and functions related to the job description.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Degree from a recognized university in health, social sciences or a related discipline;
  • Three years' experience in community development or community mobilization;
  • Experience in program design, implementation and evaluation is an asset;
  • Leadership and change-management skills;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and interdisciplinary collaboration skills;
  • Conflict-resolution skills;
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications: Microsoft Outlook, Word and Office; advanced Excel skills;
  • Ability to manage stressful situations;
  • Ability to work a variable schedule to attend meetings and activities outside regular working hours;
  • Access to a vehicle suitable for the duties of the position and ability to use it when required;
  • Possible exposure to infectious diseases, noise and allergens.
