About the role

  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and resilient microservices-based applications within the CIO Technology Engineering team.
  • Work closely with the Principal Engineer, Group Architecture, and cross-functional scrum teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Responsible for implementing microservices using best practices defined by the Community of Practice, ensuring consistency, reusability, and maintainability across services.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers, support the adoption of modern engineering practices, and help identify and resolve technical issues early to reduce risk and prevent technical debt.
  • Contribute to the creation and tracking of team-level KPIs and support the Principal Engineer in driving strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands on experience developing Java based microservices in production environments, with the technical depth expected of a senior-level engineer.
  • Strong experience working in agile teams, with a solid understanding of iterative delivery and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Proven ability to influence technical decisions, contribute to process improvements, and support the company’s engineering vision.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, supporting their growth and onboarding into agile delivery teams.
