About the role
- Collaborate with other departments to understand user requirements, translate them into technical designs, validate solutions through rapid POCs and build data assets that support to analytics, business intelligence, and decision-making processes
- Develop deep understanding of user needs and refines/articulates new solution features to address those needs
- Simplify and streamline solution delivery by breaking down complex features, identifying the riskiest assumptions, and flagging potential dependencies
- Build and iterate on data pipelines, preferably using cloud technologies like Azure ADF, Databricks (batch and streaming where applicable)
- Design and develop RESTful APIs to expose curated healthcare datasets and analytics products
- Create Power BI/Tableau dashboards and semantic models that deliver actionable insights to end users
- Work hands-on with healthcare datasets, including claims, clinical, and operational data
- Ingest, transform, and normalize healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, NDC, and related vocabularies
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to productionize solutions
- Ensure solutions meet data quality, performance, scalability, and security requirements
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts
- Support stakeholder demos, feedback sessions, and solution walkthroughs throughout the development lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working with healthcare data in a data engineering, analytics engineering, or solutions engineering role
- Prior experience with claims and clinical datasets (payer and/or provider environments)
- Prior experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
- Prior experience building and maintaining APIs (REST, JSON, authentication patterns)
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards and models (e.g., HL7, FHIR, ICD, CPT, SNOMED)
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or Scala
- Proven ability creating Power BI/Tableau dashboards, data models, and reports
- Demonstrated ability to work iteratively: building POCs, gathering feedback, and refining solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, or data platform automation preferred
